Transfer files between Mac and Windows
Send files between a Mac and a Windows PC without a USB stick, a cloud upload or setting up network sharing. Open Beam-It in the browser on both computers and drop the files in.
How to do it
Open Beam-It on your Mac
Go to beamfiles.vercel.app in the browser. There is nothing to install and no account to make.
Add your Windows PC
Tap Add another device. Scan the QR code, open the link, or type the 6-letter pairing code on your Windows PC. Allow it once and Beam-It remembers it.
Send
Choose the files, or drop them on the device's card. They arrive on the other screen, ready to open or save. It works the same in both directions.
Why people use it between computers
No setup on either computer
No shared folders, no accounts and no settings to change. Both computers just open the same page.Keep a folder the same
With Chrome or Edge on both, pick a folder on each computer and changes copy both ways while Beam-It is open.Send what you copied
Send text, links or a screenshot from the clipboard on one computer and it arrives on the other.Large files
There is no size limit. In Chrome or Edge, big files are written straight to disk, and a transfer that was cut carries on from where it stopped.
Questions
Do the computers need to be on the same network?
No. The same network is fastest, but Beam-It also connects computers on different networks.
Which browsers work?
Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Choosing a folder and keeping a folder the same need Chrome or Edge.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. They travel directly between the two computers over an encrypted connection.
Can I add my phone as well?
Yes. One pairing holds up to 8 devices, so a phone or tablet can join the two computers.
