AirDrop for Windows
AirDrop only works between Apple devices, so it can't reach a Windows PC. Beam-It does the same job in the browser: photos, videos and files go straight between your iPhone, iPad or Mac and your PC.
How to do it
Open Beam-It on your PC
Go to beamfiles.vercel.app in the browser. There is nothing to install and no account to make.
Add your iPhone
Tap Add another device. Scan the QR code, open the link, or type the 6-letter pairing code on your iPhone. Allow it once and Beam-It remembers it.
Send
Choose the files, or drop them on the device's card. They arrive on the other screen, ready to open or save. It works the same in both directions.
How it compares with AirDrop
Works on every device
iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Android, Chromebook and Linux. Anything with a current browser.Nothing to install
It runs in Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox. You can add it to the Home Screen or taskbar so it opens like an app.Straight between devices
Files travel directly from one device to the other over an encrypted connection. They are not uploaded to a server. One difference to know
AirDrop finds nearby devices by itself. With Beam-It, both devices need the Beam-It page open and an internet connection.
Questions
Is there an official AirDrop for Windows?
No. Apple has not made AirDrop for Windows. Beam-It is a separate, free web app that sends files between Apple devices and Windows PCs.
Do the iPhone and PC need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
No. The same Wi-Fi gives the fastest link, but Beam-It also connects across different networks, including mobile data.
Will my iPhone photos open on Windows?
Yes. iPhone photos in HEIC format are turned into JPG when they arrive on a PC, and you can still save the original.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no account, no subscription and no limit on how much you send.
